SCHOOLS
Everything is carefully thought out in order to give children the best possible experience.
I am qualified to provide classes within the sports curriculum or I can deliver after school classes. I received my qualification through One Dance UK which s a membership organisation recognised by the Council for Subject Associations.
My classes give children an opportunity to explore movement and music in an instinctive way and then progress on to expand their movements in a way that encourages body confidence and develop spatial awareness.
My philosophy is to challenge children to interrogate and interpret the idea behind a movement often incorporating props and other stimuli to encourage them to observe and form their own thoughts. Through expression, freedom and creativity I encourage them to expand their movement vocabulary based on the 5 basic actions of Jump, Turn, Travel, Gesture and Stillness.
Working within schools I have gained a wealth of knowledge on how to best support the national curriculum. I have developed sessions around topics such as Healthy Me, Travel, Weather, Heathly eating, Shapes and several varied science topics to name just a few. I also always take the opportunity to support literacy and learning by incorporating observation with discussion.
I have also been working with SEND children and children whose wider learning opportunities benefit from a moment outside of ‘everyday class’. I work with staff to understand the needs of each child and create a space for them to feel comfortable, safe and encouraged to not just express themselves through movement, but also expand their confidence, improve self-regulation and develop friendship skills.
I have produced a video for schools to use in any way they choose. Please go to the link below for a look.
